Cole Closser is another of the fascinating artists I was privileged to spend time with at the ACA. I got to know them as an insightful and witty individual with high standards for their own personal production.
Cole's drawing process involves research into historic illustration styles, leading to final results that are anachronistically dislocated. Poetic prose guides the reader through narratives that evoke a strong sense of longing and absence.
Cole's first graphic novel, "Little Tommy Lost," was nominated for a Will Eisner Comic Industry Award. Their work has been included in Best American Comics 2015 and 2017, as well as many other publications.
Cole Closser is an Associate Professor of Art & Design at Missouri State University in Springfield Illinois. Check out more of Cole's artwork at https://coleclosser.com/ , https://www.instagram.com/coleclosser/?hl=en
